German Aerospace Centre (DLR), Oberpfaffenhofen

The DLR is the research centre of the Federal Republic of Germany that deals with aviation and aerospace issues. Its extensive research and development work in the fields of aviation, aerospace, energy and transport is integrated into national and international partnerships.
Based in Oberpfaffenhofen, the DLR's research activities focus on aviation and aerospace. Its eight institutes and facilities employ 1,100 people. The DLR Oberpfaffenhofen works in close cooperation with universities and research institutes at home and abroad as well as with the European Space Agency (ESA) and the American space agency, NASA. Focal points of project:
Within the bounds of the sub-contracts it has concluded with KUKA and SCHUNK, the DLR brings in its experience in the development of control systems for redundant lightweight robots with multiple-finger hands and supports the planning and implementation of two-handed grips as well as the development of ambidextrous manipulation methods.
